Serving in Florida for beginners.
Barbara Ehenreich gives some good insights of how "the other" side is. It was very informative and I'm sure anyone who has worked that business knows what she means. I for one have not. But I'm kind of confused or more like not sure if she really felt what its like since she at anytime could go back to her life. I guess that is the fault I found with it. But besides that very interesting and opened some eyes.

You know, everyone seems to think that Barbara can't have known what it was like because she knew that she could leave at any time. But I am kind of thinking that I might disagree- because I have worked in these kind of jobs- while I do, I know that it's not going to be my job for the rest of my life, but I do know that for the time being I have to work that job and I have to do it well. Every hour in that job is an hour of experience- I don't think that you HAVE to have it as your only occupation to know what the experience is like! :)
ReplyDeleteHer experiences to a point seemed very genuine and real, however I do agree that her ability to leave after only a month didn't allow her to experience the "need" to work those types of jobs.
